ELCK Install its new Archbishop
On the 26th of January 2020, i n an elaborate ceremony filled with hope and high expectations, t he Rev Dr. Joseph Ochola was installed as the Second Archbishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya at the Uhuru Highway Cathedral in Nairobi, Kenya. The event which was graced by the presence of Lutheran Bishops and Clergy from the entire Eastern and Southern Africa region was celebrated by song and dance by over fifteen choirs and hundreds of Kenyan Lutherans from around the Country. The keynote address was given by the Secretary General of the NCCK, the Rev Canon Kamau who spoke of the Church as the salt of the earth. The Church which for several years had undergone internal feuds, that had at times to be arbitrated by Courts and top government offices was also celebrating the culmination of a historical process of reconciliation that had ended in the unanimous election of Bishop Ochola at a National Convention held at Kapenguria in December 2019.
